OK I know guitar, but I will show my friend to play bass even if I dont know it, can you help me out. What is the difference between guitar bass and bass, 6 string, 5, or 4.help

Basicly a bass quitar keeps the rythem,like drums. the top 4 strings of your regular quitar are the same as the 4 on a bass there are 5,and 6 string bass's,but forget about that for now. What is played on a guitar for a song is not what would be played on a bass because like I said bass is part of the rythem section. Have your friend take lessons,and listen to lots of bands with heavy bass sounds like Iron Maiden, Rush, and Motorhead just to name a few. Even if he's not into that kind of music it will be able to pick out the bass parts by those artists compared to many bands that don't have a heavy bass sound. Good luck to him
