Question:
Hi! I had my first violin lesson in 2 years on Thursday, my next one is on Wedsday. My teacher gave me a piece to practice, and told me to practice the scales, especially the b flat scale. When practicing, do you go up one octave or two? Could someone elaborate on playing the scales, and how many are there? (Btw, I've heard about the Minor and Major scales, but I don't know what they mean, so if someone could tell me, that would be super!)

Don't worry about how many scales, or what kind. You will learn them as you need them.
If you can do 2 octaves do 2.
It is very important that you are in tune and getting good tone.
